Anjuman E Mahdavia

Markazi Anjuman E Mahdavia, also known as Anjuman or MAM, is the most important community center for the Mahdavia community of Hyderabad, India.
In the early 20th century, Mahdavia community leaders held meetings at the home of Haji Muhammad Ali Khan. On 15 Muharram 1320 AH (April 24, 1902), as a result of these assemblies, a proposition for the founding of the Markazi Anjuman-e-Mahdavia was put forward in a meeting with elites and intellectuals who were interested in working for the progress of the community .〔()〕
==History==
The History of MAM reveals that as late as 1330 AH (1912), at the commencement of every meeting, the head of the assembly was chosen by mutual consultation of the members present, meaning that there was a new president at every meeting. To carry out administrative and communicational tasks, Khan Bahadur Syed Ali Qasim was nominated as the first secretary of MAM, followed by Syed Hussain Saheb of Panagudi,Erode district of Tamil Nadu in 1910. Conventions of Meelad and Urs began to take place at this time, following a resolution presented by Murshid Syed Murtuza Saheb Yadullahi. In 1913 a regular president was elected by the members for a term of four years.
During the presidency of Janab Syed Yaqoob a permanent location for the center was donated by Hajji Mahammed Ali Khan, the chief promoter and co-founder of MAM. As of 2015, the center remains in this same place,Chanchalguda Hyderabad.
In 1903 MAM took the first step towards the accomplishment of its goals by establishing a school, the Madrasa Sultaniyah. Syed Abdullah was made head of the Madrasa. Due to the tremendous popularity of its syllabus and its teaching method, the Madrasa was taken over by the Asaf Jahi Government in 1911. The modern day Chanchalguda junior college is the equivalent or replacement of Madrasa Sultaniyah. To bring further educational opportunities to young people, the Mahdavia Boarding house was established 1914, offering both Religious and Modern education.〔()〕
